Thank heaven for little boys…

There are days that I’m so thankful for all boys. This is one of them…

One day, I had all three boys in my Durango. I had just dropped something off at my husbands work, and I was waiting to turn left at a red light. I am always very aware of my surrounding because I grew up in Dallas. So, as I’m waiting for my turn to go at the light, the vehicle behind me came to a stop, and the driver got out of his car and started walking up to my window.

As he walked closer, I started considering my escape routes, because I was sure he was going to hold us up. (Why else would he have gotten out of his car?) I couldn’t go to the left into the oncoming traffic, and there were cars on my right blocking me in as well. Trust me, if I could have escaped, I would have.

So, there I was with a stranger approaching my drivers side window. About the time he reached my window, I looked up, and there he was standing beside me holding a gun. A GUN!

I was trapped in my vehicle, with all three of my boys, with a man holding a gun up to my window!

Even though I was stuck there with him, there was no way I was going to unroll my window, and he was standing there like I was really going to have a conversation with him. But I could hardly ignore him either.

About that point, I could hear him through the glass, and very politely he said, “Maam, this gun was on your back bumper.” HMMMM? What did he just say to me? About that time, he pointed it closer, and said, “MAAM, this gun was on your back bumper.”

Since I couldn’t help but look, as I was face to face with this stranger, I looked up, and he was holding my sons toy gun, who had apparently left it on my back bumper before I left home. He was just kindly giving it back to me.

Just another day in the life of a mom with boys.
