Ice Storm 2009

We are counting our blessings in the Ice Storm of 2009.
This is very funny, but when I first made this post, I accidentally put, "Blizzard 2009, rather than Ice Storm." I must have been having a flashback to when we lived in the Northeast. Let me tell you, there is a HUGE difference!
So far, we still have electricity. With 100,000 people without power, we're very thankful!

The kids will have missed a whole week of school by the time this is over, and they are thrilled.

We are praying for our friends who will likely be without power for several more days.

Earlier, Conner came in from playing in the ice and snow, yelling to show me something. I had to tell him he couldn't break off the iced over limbs of our Japanese Maple to use as a sword. For now, our biggest concern is that our pine trees that should be about 12 feet tall are laying on our fence. Hopefully when the ice melts, we won't have lost too many of them.
It's not over yet, but so far, so good.
And yes, I'm fully aware that my relatives that live in the North are giggling at us for calling this a storm.
