A Month Ago Today

Conner took us back this week to show us the helipad where he took off from in the helicopter at the hospital.

The above helicopter is where I was exactly one month ago today at this very time. I had just gotten out on the roof of Arkansas Children's Hospital, and they were bringing Conner out on a stretcher.

Last week, my parents came to visit us, and Conner wanted to show Grandma Shirley exactly where he took off from in the helicopter.
He happily got out and we took a picture to show how far he has come in only one short month.

We had his one month check up today. As we drove up to the doctors office, I couldn't help but think about how far he has come this month. We have seen dramatic improvement. He can walk, run short distances, skip, and jump. He can bend his right arm at the elbow, and move his right wrist, and his hand is getting stronger each week. He is working on endurance, strength, and the ability to raise his right arm. We are still praying for complete recovery, and his occupational and physical therapists are so pleased with his progress.

As I think back, I remember the first victory was when he could wiggle his toes, and when he could even slightly move his right finger. For the first several weeks, his right arm hung limp by his side. He would use his left arm to pick up his right arm to put it on the table to try to write. Each week, he has gained a little more use of it. I continue to be thankful for all of the progress Conner has made. We got a letter in the mail recently from a Baptist church in Florida who has been so faithful to pray for Conner and write him encouraging letters. The kind friend had written, "Conner, trust in God." Conner looked at me and so confidently said, "Mama, I DO trust God!"

I am so thankful for the opportunities this has given our family to trust God. Because HE is at our right hand, we will not be shaken.

Psalm 16:8
"I have set the Lord always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken."
